Piazza di PieveTorina
La Pieve di S. Maria è del Duecento. Bella la torre campanaria che domina la piazza. Non è improbabile che la pieve, insieme a S. Agata, fosse strutturata inizialmente in due chiese sovrapposte al cui piano superiore, poi utilizzato come casa colonica, si accedeva da un portale posto nella facciata posteriore. La chiesa, un tempo completamente affrescata, porge allo sguardo dei visitatori le opere di Cola di Pietro: un’ Ultima Cena, un S. Giorgio e la principessa e un Martirio di S. Stefano con un imponente sfondo architettonico. Altri affreschi decorano la volta della navata centrale; sulla parete di sinistra la Dormitio Virginis . Mentre la Madonna del Latte che ornava la navata centrale è esposta nella cappella della parrocchiale di S. Maria Assunta.
The church of S. Maria was built in the 13th Century. Its bell tower, which dominates the piazza, is very beautiful. It is likely that, together with the adjoining church of S. Agata, it was once two churches, one above the other, the upper one reached by a door in the back wall was later used as a farmhouse. Once completely frescoed, the church displays to its visitors works by Cola di Pietro: a Last Supper, St. George and the Princess, in a bucolic setting, and the Martyrdom of S.Stefano with an imposing architectural backdrop. More frescoes decorate the ceiling over the central aisle; on the left side, a Dormitio Virginis. The Madonna del Latte that used to hang in the central aisle is now kept in the parochial church, S. Maria Assunta.
